Working longer network workshop on extending working lives and the changing face of retirement, Goodenough College, University College London
This was a collaborative network workshop organised by Professor David Blane from the International Centre for Life Course Studies in Society and Health (ICLS) at UCL which brought together groups of researchers working on the issue of extending working lives. Researchers included Professor Jenny Head who is also leading a cross-research council funded consortium on extending working lives (renEwL), and Dr. Mariska van der Horst who is working with Professor Sarah Vickerstaff on another cross-research funded consortium. Professor David Blane, who within the second quinquennium scientific programme of the ESRC International Centre for Life Course Studies in Society and Health (ICLS), leads a project entitled Working longer: paid employment beyond age 65 years, provided the introduction and Professor Tarani Chandola from Manchester University chaired the event. Presentations were also given by Brian Beach on linking research and policy for fuller working lives and from Andrew Hood from the Institute for Fiscal Studies on the changing face of retirement.
